Sonia Guinane and Dave Tourle
Hove, East Sussex, England
For 20 years Sonia and Dave have been keeping and breeding many cichlid species from various locations: Malawi, Tanganyika, South and Central America, and India. However, since 1995, endangered Madagascan cichlids have been their priority and they currently maintain over 15 species. They have written several internationally published articles, using Dave’s photographs and paintings, regarding their work with Madagascan and other cichlids.
Sonia wrote the chapter about Madagascan cichlids in Ad Konings’s latest edition of Enjoying Cichlids. With Dave’s assistance she edited the English version of The Endemic Cichlids of Madagascar, written by the late Jean-Claude Nourissat and Patrick de Rham.
Because of their interest in cichlids, Sonia and Dave have travelled extensively in Africa, Europe, and the United States, and are members of several cichlid clubs throughout the world, including the American Cichlid Association (ACA), British Cichlid Association (BCA), Association France Cichlid (AFC), and Mid Atlantic Cichlid Keepers (MACK). They are also members of Fish and Aquatic Invertebrate Taxon Advisory Group (FAITAG), which integrates zoos and aquariums throughout the world with the conservation of many endangered species. They are also delighted to be a part of the CARES Program.
It is truly a special pleasure for CARES to have you, Sonia and Dave!
Thank you so much for all that you do!
