Greg Steeves
A highly sought after speaker and eloquent author, having written and been published extensively, Greg’s admirable commitment to species-at-risk has brought him wide acclaim, now as the CARES Conservation Priority List Regional Coordinator for Lake Victorian cichlids. It was some years ago that Greg became involved with the cichlids of Lake Victoria. Understanding the perils these fish face brought his interest in them to a full fledged compulsion. It is Greg’s goal to ensure that there are Lake Victoria cichlids in the hobby for his grandchildren to someday enjoy.
Active in both local and regional organizations, Greg and his wife, Lee Ann, founded the well-known Hill Country Cichlid Club (HCCC).
Greg says that he believes that “the best thing an individual can do to ensure species survival is to get any and all information and experiences out there so that others might see what they are missing. I write on these subjects to make people aware of the cichlids I’m involved with...hopefully, my ‘road show” will add to the exposure these fishes get.”
A dedicated conservationist and knowledgeable aquarist, Greg imparts his experience and wisdom with a kind nature that is touched with his own special, personable humor and charm. Greg is a great fortune to CARES and at risk fishes!
It is our great fortune to have Greg as part of the CARES Team!
