C.A.R.E.S. Preservation Program Awards

Certificate of Recognition

CARES Certificate of Recognition
The beautiful CARES Certificate of Recognition pictured above was designed by
Klaus Steinhaus for use in the DRAS CARES program.

Recognition of CARES Members in each member club is made through regular publication on the club website (if applicable).  An updated list is kept in prominent view at the front table or on a bulletin board at meetings, as well as by other creative means arrived at and agreed to by the member club's CARES Support Team.

A CARES Program Certificate of Recognition is awarded annually for each species registered and accepted into each CARES club within that year.

Four colored seals ~ gold, green, blue, and red ~ are presented annually to be added to the CARES Certificate of Recognition for further recognition of ultimate achievements.

A gold seal is awarded for the achievement of setting aside space in your tanks that is dedicated towards maintaining a CARES conservation priority at risk species and registering that species in your aquarium club's CARES program. The gold seal is automatically awarded with receipt of the CARES Certificate of Recognition.

A green seal is awarded for compiling the notes that you have entered into your C.A.R.E.S. Preservation Program Species Journal and sharing the knowledge that you have gained regarding your CARES Species at Risk through the submission of an article to your club's publication, and the subsequent publication of that article.

A blue seal is awarded for sharing fry of your registered CARES Species at Risk with a member of your club, and having those fry registered into your club's CARES, or for donating fry of your registered CARES Species to a Species Maintenance Program (SMP).

A red seal is awarded for sharing fry of your registered CARES Species at Risk with a hobbyist from another society or educational organization who has instituted the C.A.R.E.S. Preservation Program and having those fry be registered into that organization's C.A.R.E.S. Preservation Program.  (i.e., Aqua Havens CARES, ACA CARES, HCCC CARES, DRAS CARES)

For each succeeding year that you continue to maintain a species enrolled in CARES, a small red longevity seal is added, forming a line across your CARES Certificate of Recognition.

A certificate with four colored seals, gold, green, blue, and red, and a solid row of small red longevity seals is the ultimate level of C.A.R.E.S. Preservation Program Membership Achievement per C.A.R.E.S. Preservation Program Species.

All eligible fry of registered CARES species will usually be awarded additional points in that club's Breeders Award Program.

The CARES Member of the Year Award is presented annually by each member club to one of it's members.  This achievement is awarded to a member of the program who excels in overall outstanding care for the future of our at risk fish, openly shares knowledge with other hobbyists, and altruistically assists fellow hobbyists in their CARES endeavors.

With Warm Wishes,
